Automatic fire vent rooflights (REFER TO VIKON VALIANT FOR LATEST CONTROL MECHANISM)
The Domelite®MK 5 Pyrovent consists of a dome or pyramid glazing unit hinged to a splayed upstand and activated by powerful stainless steel springs through a fusible link or smoke detector. It is used for the automatic fire venting of stairwells, warehouses, etc., and is particularly useful in keeping corridors and escape routes free of fumes and in unattended premises where the visible escape of smoke can assist the early detection of a fire. The Pyrovent is one of the Domelite® MK 5 range of rooflights using the same basic components and with similar advantages.
The unit is operated by powerful stainless steel springs which are activated by fusible link at a temperature of 72º C (162º F). The springs are side-mounted to leave the opening area unimpeded.
Where it is required that the Pyrovent should be activated by smoke rather than by heat, a proprietary smoke or gas sensor may be fitted which operates the unit through a solenoid fitted within the unit, and linked to an independent electrical circuit. Gas and smoke sensors must be provided and fitted by a specialist sub-contractor and are not included in the Pyrovent unit.
A cord operated release trigger mechanism allows the unit to be test opened without activating the fusible link, and a 5 mm length of cord with a ring pull is supplied.
Access Hatch Rooflights (REFER TO VIKON VALIANT FOR LATEST CONTROL MECHANISM)
The Domelite® MK 5 Access Hatch consists of a dome or pyramid glazing unit hinged to a splayed upstand. Manually operated, the unit is secured in the open position by two hinged aluminium stays.
The Access Hatch is supplied with an internal security latch as standard although an external version can also be supplied at an extra cost.
It is used in any position where access is required to the roof coupled with the need to admit daylight.
